How Kamerii Handles and Protects Your Data

Kamerii handles your diary — some of the most private data you have. That’s why we designed the app around keeping it yours. This page explains how, in plain language.

Your diary data lives on your device

Your transcriptions and diary entries are stored on your iPhone. They are not stored on our servers, and we cannot read your diary. When you use the AI organizing feature, transcribed text and related information are sent to Google’s Gemini API as explained below.

Your voice is not saved as a recording. Microphone audio is discarded once transcription is complete.

No account is required, and normal use of the App does not require your name or email address.

Transcription happens entirely on-device

Speech-to-text uses Apple’s speech recognition technology on your iPhone. Microphone audio is never sent to an external server for transcription.

The AI organizing feature and data transmission

Only when you use AI-generated titles, summaries, transcript polishing, or daily summaries is your transcribed text sent to Google’s Gemini API.

Daily summaries are never created automatically: text from the selected day (up to 16,000 characters in total), along with the titles and times of that day’s adopted calendar events that have already ended, is sent only when you choose to create or update its summary.

Transmission is encrypted (TLS)
Google’s paid API terms explicitly state that data received via the API is not used to train AI models, and we use only the paid API after confirming this policy
Data sent to Google may be retained temporarily, but is automatically deleted after the applicable retention period
Our servers retain operational records such as usage counts, subscription entitlements, and trial grants with identifiers, but never the content of your diary

The AI feature can be enabled only with your explicit consent. You can also turn it off at any time in Settings. While it is off, no diary data leaves your device.

Calendar and Reminders integration

For events you adopt or create in Kamerii, the title, start and end times, and related details are written to Apple Calendar.

When you add a task to Apple Reminders, its title, due date, and diary date are written, and completion, due-date, or deletion status may be synchronized. Diary text is never written to Reminders. If you use a shared calendar or list, the information you add may be visible to other members.

App Lock keeps other eyes out

Turn on “Lock the app” in Settings and opening the app will require Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Hand your phone to family or friends without worrying about your diary. Authentication uses Apple’s built-in biometric system — your face and fingerprint data never reach the app or the developer.

Backups stay in your hands

Files created by the backup feature are saved only to the destination you choose (such as through the Files app). They are never uploaded to our servers. A backup file contains your diary as-is, so please store it carefully.

We collect usage history to improve the App

Kamerii uses Firebase Analytics to improve the App and records app opens and use of various features. It does not collect diary text, transcripts, audio, photos, task text, or calendar-event content.

Analytics includes a Firebase-generated app instance identifier and a pseudonymous RevenueCat App User ID and is retained for no more than 14 months. We use no advertising SDK or IDFA and do not use this data for ad personalization or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.

Crash diagnostics do not add diary content

We use Firebase Crashlytics to fix defects faster. When the App crashes, diagnostic information such as its stack trace, app version, device model, and operating system is transmitted and retained for 90 days before deletion begins. We never add diary text, transcripts, audio, photos, task or calendar-event content, or the pseudonymous RevenueCat App User ID to Crashlytics as custom logs or a user ID.

Usage, subscription, and trial records

Our servers record pseudonymous app-user and RevenueCat user identifiers; an irreversible hash of registration-verification information; AI usage dates and counts; purchase, subscription, refund, and entitlement events; pseudonymous product and transaction identifiers; and timestamps relating to trial grants and entitlement checks. They do not store diary content. These records are retained for as long as necessary for their respective purposes, such as managing usage limits, providing subscriptions, and preventing repeated acquisition of benefits, and are deleted when no longer necessary for those purposes.

We use RevenueCat to manage purchases, subscriptions, and trials. RevenueCat processes a pseudonymous user identifier and purchase, subscription, and entitlement status. Payment information such as card numbers registered to your Apple Account is not sent to our servers or service providers such as RevenueCat.

Deleting your data

Using iOS’s “Delete App” removes the Kamerii app and the diary data stored in it from your device. Offloading the App does not delete that data.

We normally handle operator-side data through the applicable retention periods: up to 14 months for Firebase Analytics and BigQuery, deletion beginning after 90 days for Crashlytics, the applicable retention period for Gemini, and purpose-based retention on our servers. We do not offer individualized early deletion as an always-available service. Where applicable law requires a response, we assess and handle a request to the extent that we can reasonably identify the requester and the relevant data. Records that must be retained, diagnostic or aggregate information that cannot be linked to an individual, data retained by processors such as Google, and data managed by you through services such as Apple may be outside the scope. We do not guarantee immediate deletion of all data.
