Getting started
How to use Kamerii
Capture unfiltered thoughts by voice or keyboard. This guide takes you from your first entry through review, AI organization, integrations, and backups.
Three steps
Create your first entry
There is no need to make it sound polished. Speak or write whatever comes to mind, in any order.
-
Choose how to enter it
On Home, tap Start Talking. When speaking is not convenient, choose Start Writing with Keyboard instead.
-
Speak or type
Your speech becomes text on your device as you talk. You can pause voice input, edit the text with the keyboard, or add photos.
-
Save the entry
For voice input, tap Finish Recording; for keyboard input, tap Save. If AI organization is enabled, Kamerii creates a title and summary for a voice entry and makes its body easier to read. The original transcript remains available.
Diary
Capture and revisit
Entries are stored on your device and can be revisited from Diary or Calendar.
Resume an unfinished entry
If you close voice input or it stops partway through, a transcript with enough content appears under In Progress on Home. Resume it when ready, or delete it if you no longer need it.
Write an entry with the keyboard
Choose Write Diary with Keyboard in Diary to save text with photos and links. The body you type is not rewritten, even if you run AI organization later.
Find an entry in Diary
View entries chronologically or grouped by day, then search or filter by favorites. In the detail view, edit or copy the title, summary, and body, and add or remove photos and links.
Look back from Calendar
Choose a date in Calendar to see that day’s entries, tasks, and added events in time order. Date views are for looking back; start a new entry from Home or Diary.
Organize & connect
Turn entries into next steps
AI organization and Apple app integrations are optional. Use only the parts that are useful to you.
Make entries easier to read with AI
Enable AI Organization under Current Plan & AI Settings to create a title, summary, and task or event suggestions. The body of a voice entry can also be polished. No audio is sent. Kamerii securely sends the diary text it needs, limited processing details such as language and date, and pseudonymous identifiers used to manage the usage allowance.
Create This Day’s Summary
When a day has at least two entries, create or refresh an AI summary from the By day view or Calendar. It uses diary text and the titles and times of added events that overlap that day and have ended by the time the summary is generated. Audio, photos, event locations, and notes are not sent. Creating or refreshing a summary uses your AI allowance.
Manage tasks
Add only the AI suggestions you want by tapping +. Open Tasks from Home to complete, edit, or reorder them. You can also add tasks manually.
Connect Reminders and Calendar
Tasks can be added to Apple Reminders manually or automatically. If Sync Deletions with Reminders is on, deleting an item in either app also deletes it in the other. Events can stay only in Kamerii or sync with Apple Calendar, but existing Kamerii-only events are not shared automatically if you turn synchronization on later.
Settings & data
Make Kamerii work for you
Open Settings from the gear button at the top of the app.
Check your plan and AI settings
Current Plan & AI Settings shows your plan, remaining trial days, and whether AI organization is on. Home shows your AI usage and, once the limit is available, the remaining allowance. AI features need an internet connection, while regular entry and review continue to work on your device.
Adjust voice input
Voice Input Settings controls the silence timeout, prompt cards, and haptic strength. Other Settings lets you control Home stats and Shortcuts.
Review your voice activity
Open Voice Stats on Home to review speaking time, character or word count, and the number of voice entries by period. Hiding it from Home does not stop collection, and past activity returns when you show it again.
Lock the app
Turn on Lock App to require Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode whenever Kamerii is opened. It locks again after the app moves to the background.
Create a backup
Data Management exports entries, photos, links, tasks, and This Day’s Summaries to one file. Restore adds them without deleting existing data and skips duplicate entries. App settings, added events, and Apple integration state are not included.
iCloud automatic backup is not currently available, but we plan to support it in a future update.
Use Shortcuts and widgets
Start voice input with Siri, the Action button, Lock Screen, Control Center, or a Home Screen widget. A separate Upcoming To-Dos widget shows the next seven days and lets you complete tasks without opening the app.
Troubleshooting
Frequently asked questions
-
My speech is not turning into text
Open Kamerii in the iOS Settings app and check that Microphone and Speech Recognition access are enabled. The first session may take longer to start while the on-device speech recognition model for the selected language is prepared.
-
Voice input paused partway through
Voice input pauses when the app moves to the background, the screen is locked, a call or Siri takes the microphone, or headphones or an external microphone are disconnected. It does not resume automatically. Return to Kamerii and tap Resume. If enough content was captured, you can also resume from In Progress on Home.
-
Can I play my voice back later?
No. Kamerii uses audio only for transcription and does not create or save an audio file. Review the transcript before saving and use the keyboard to make any corrections.
-
Can I keep a diary without AI organization?
Yes. Turn off AI Organization under Current Plan & AI Settings. Voice and keyboard entry continue to work, and future transcripts are not sent for AI organization.
-
AI organization or This Day’s Summary is not working
Check your connection and the AI usage shown on Home. Once the limit is available, Home also shows the remaining allowance. Your entry is saved on the device without waiting for AI. If you have reached the limit, follow the in-app message and wait until the allowance becomes available again.
-
Will my diary move to a new device?
Kamerii does not provide its own automatic cloud sync. Standard iOS device migration may carry app data over, but we recommend exporting a backup from Settings → Data Management before switching devices. Restore never deletes existing data. Check Apple integrations again on the new device. Kamerii does not encrypt the backup file, so store it securely.
-
What happens if I delete Kamerii?
Choosing Delete App in iOS deletes entries, in-progress drafts, photos, and other content stored inside the Kamerii app. Export a backup before deleting the app or erasing the device. Backups saved outside Kamerii and items already synchronized to Apple Reminders or Calendar may remain separately. Offload App normally keeps app data, but a manual backup is still recommended for important entries.
-
Does Lock App also hide widgets?
The voice-input widget does not show diary text. However, the Upcoming To-Dos widget does not follow Kamerii’s app lock and shows task text on the Home Screen after the device is unlocked. Remove that widget if its contents should not be visible there.
-
Where can I check or manage my plan?
Open Settings → Current Plan & AI Settings to see your current plan. If you have a paid subscription, you can open Apple’s subscription management from the same screen. If a purchase is missing after reinstalling or changing devices, choose Restore Purchases on the Premium screen.
-
Will I be charged after the initial free experience?
No. The first seven days include a free Premium-level AI allowance. At the end, Kamerii switches automatically to the Free plan and no charge begins. A paid plan starts only if you choose a monthly or annual plan on the Premium screen and confirm the purchase.
